English Level: B2/C1

Topic:        ROADS TO FREEDOM – THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION OF THE SIXTIES

Aims:

–          To develop and activate new lexis related to the Civil Rights and to History in general;

–          To develop recognition of stress pattern in noun –definition collocations;

–          To understand the role of historical figures and their inheritance;

–          To develop a critical idea of the past.

–          To have a  progression in knowledge, skills and understanding related to the specific content of the Clil

–          To practice the English language in an historical contest

–          To develop thinking skills which link concept formation (abstract and concrete), understanding and language

–          To learn to be exposed to alternative perspectives and shared understandings, which deepen awareness of otherness and self.

Materials and preparation:

– Lesson Plan developed on a Power Point file;  – Lim;  – Worksheets with exercises;  – Lab.

Introduction: Learners are introduced to the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement and the Cultural Revolution taking place in the Sixties and to History in general via multi-media, communicative approach.

Time for the Clil: 3 hours + 1 for final test.

Topic:        FORCE AND ACCELERATION

Aims:

– To develop and activate new lexis related to force and acceleration and Physics in general;

– To develop recognition of stress pattern in noun-definition collocations;

–   To describe an experiment to investigate the relationship between forces, mass and acceleration;

– To state the Unit force;

– To state Newton’s Laws and use them to solve problems;

– To describe the motion of an object falling in air.

Materials and preparation:

– Lesson Plan developed on a Power Point file;  – Lim;  – Worksheets with exercises;  – Lab.

Introduction: Learners are introduced to the Physics subject area of Forces and acceleration via multi-media, communicative approach.

Time for the Clil: 3 hours + 1 for final test.

Topic:        STATIC ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRIC CURRENT

Aims:  –  To develop learners’ understanding of static electricity and the electric                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      current;

– To develop and activate new lexis related to electricity, electric current and Physics in general;

– To develop recognition of stress pattern in noun-definition collocations;

– To describe how positive and negative charges are produced by rubbing;

 

– To describe how a conductor can be charged by induction;

– To define the unit of charge in terms of the unit of current;

– To recall the relation It and use it to solve problems;

– To distinguish between electron flow and conventional current;

– To  distinguish between direct current and alternating current.

 

Materials and preparation:

– Lesson Plan developed on a Power Point file;  – Lim;  – Worksheets with exercises;  – Lab.

Introduction: Learners are introduced to the Physics subject area of static electricity and electric current via multi-media, communicative approach.

–          To learn to be exposed to alternative perspectives and shared understandings, which deepen awareness of otherness and self.
